Bulb wake up versus down time

I use my lightbulbs to light my entryway – turn it on at night, off in the morning – fairly typical use case. With testing using my lanlifx code https://github.com/str255/lanlifx – most of the times this works great, however, sometimes the bulbs don’t wake up. I then have to call it again, and the bulbs then wake up okay. I never have problems turning the bulbs off. How do the bulbs sleep or hibernate? Is the server latency different on wake-up?

The bulbs don’t go to sleep, but the messages are sent over UDP so they may occasionally get dropped by your router. Most libraries look out for either a response from the bulb, or an acknowledgement and retransmit if they don’t see one.
