Notification when a bulb changes state?

Is there a protocol for getting a notification when a bulb changes state? Given that the bulb can be anywhere in the world I need a way to track the current state.

Short answer: No. Long answer: Yes, but LIFX isn’t documenting it for third-party use “at this time.” See previous threads on the subject.
