Since we no control the lights via apps and Alexa I would like to make it so that the power is always on. Our kitchen is controlled by 2 3 way switches. What is the best way to disable those switches so the power is always on.
You could take the switch off the wall entirely and plug up the hole, or if your wallplate is a modular clipsal version you could just pop out the switch inserts and replace them with blank inserts. Don’t go playing with wires unless you’re a fully trained electrician - pay someone to do it. The 50 bucks is worth not electrocuting yourself or burning your whole house down.
I get the little switch guards like http://www.amazon.com/Amertac-Westek-CSG1-Switch-Guard-White/dp/B000NCV1SK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1459127781&sr=8-1&keywords=Light+Switch+Guard
They are open on one side so you can still slide your finger in and flip the switch…which is really useful if you have to “power reset” a LIFX bulb.
